And the Computer Threat Keeps on Coming
The Latest Computer Threat Haunting the Web
In the world of computers, where many of us dwell, there is nothing more disrupting than hearing that there is a new computer threat on the horizon just waiting to find its way onto our systems. In the latest of a never ending line of attacks we have been most recently faced with a virus which is intruded via a WMF, otherwise known as a Windows Meta file.
So What’s the Issue?
The main issue that makes this virus so much different than others is the fact that you did not have to open or download anything. This particular computer threat is able to infect a computer by merely having the user view an image via an email, webpage or any other graphically inclined media. Since this is the case, the public outcry was large and it caused Microsoft to release the patch earlier than they had planned.
For those who have not updated yet, the patch can be found on the Microsoft Update webpage. Although at this point in time it’s a safe assumption that if you are using Microsoft Automatic Update the patch has already been installed on your computer.
However, if you’re not sure whether or not you’ve thwarted this computer threat, the Microsoft patch can be found here.
While you’re at it, you will probably want to download the latest version of FireFox. While it won’t provide you with the fix for this virus, it will offer you added security while you surf the Web.

I received a Microsoft update about three days ago through the customary notification when I went to turn off the computer. I'm assuming it was the one for this new dangerous virus. What gets me CRAZY about Microsoft, though, is they tell you there are updates, yet they don't tell you WHAT THEY ARE. Duh!!! How I detest Microsoft in many ways!

Just responding to Linda Yates. To find which updates you'v received, go to your local disk (c) and look in your "Windows" folder...the updates, i.e. KB912919 will be there in the alphabetical order.
