Are Online Florists Really the Way to Go?

What You Need to Know Before Ordering From Online Florists

Buying from online florists is so easy. You log onto the Internet, browse the options and then make your payment -- all from the comfort of your home. All that's left to do is wait for your recipient to be surprised. But is shopping the online florists really the savviest way to send flowers? Here are some things you need to consider.

When Do You Need It?

The first question you need to ask yourself when considering online florists is when you need the gift to arrive. If you're looking for same-day delivery, online florists may not be your best bet.

Even though many online florists boast same-day delivery options, it's easier to get same day service by calling a local florist. Online florists have timing restrictions and there are limits as to what you can send and what time of day you have to order by. I've found local florists to be more accommodating when it comes to same-day delivery options.

Where Do You Live?

Another thing I've noticed is that floral prices vary greatly from one town to the next. For instance, I can send a great gift basket from a few towns over for $40 including delivery. My town charges me about $75 and online it would be about the same price (if I didn't have coupons). If you live in an area where prices are very reasonable, you might be better off making a call to a local florist rather than shopping online.

Have Coupons?

If your local florists charge the same prices that online florists do, then online florists are going to be your best bet. Why? Because online florists offer something many local florists do not -- coupon codes.

I've seen online florist coupons ranging from $10 to $20 off your order or sometimes you can even find 20-percent off coupons (which can really come in handy if you're placing a costly order). When it comes to ordering from online florists, there are always deals to be had.

Good info! I usually order online, since I hate talking on the phone. There is a nice list of online florist and flower stores with coupons here.
