Are Points Programs Worth the Time?

Earning Rewards with Points Programs

The concept of web-based points programs isn’t a new one -- they’ve been around for a few years. With points programs you basically read emails, respond to offers, shop or surf the web in exchange for points. Then, when you accumulate a certain number of points, you can exchange them for cash or prizes. There are number of points programs available on the web, but are these points programs really worth the time and effort?

A Blessing and a Curse

Yes, points programs can indeed pay off, but you’re not going to get rich doing them. In fact, it can take months to earn enough points to redeem them for anything of value.

If you do a lot of shopping online and you’re really interested in receiving tons of emails about surveys and special offers, then a points program may be exactly what you’re looking for.

However, if you’re the type of person who’s going to get in over their heads by ordering things they don’t need and signing up for programs they won’t use just for the sole purpose of earning points, you should avoid points programs at all costs.
