Emergency Preparedness: Are You Ready?

Taking a Look at Emergency Preparedness

In today’s day and age it’s quite a scary world. What with earthquakes, tornadoes, floods, fires, and terrorism it seems like the list of things to worry about is endless. Needless to say, if you’re not practicing emergency preparedness, you should be. But how do you prepare for the worst if the worst is yet to come?

Basic Emergency Preparedness

The best way to prepare for an emergency is to have an emergency preparedness plan and an emergency preparedness kit. Your plan should outline what to do and where to go in different types of emergencies. For example, if there’s a tornado coming the plan should outline that you and your family need to go into the basement or to another safe area if a basement isn’t available.

An emergency preparedness kit will contain things like medical supplies, food and water, clothing, a flashlight, radio, batteries and other emergency supplies. You should have separate emergency kits for your home and your car.
