High-End Department Stores and Hidden Bargains

How High-End Department Stores Can Be a Great Source of Affordable Name-Brand Clothing

If you avoid high-end department stores because you think you can’t afford the clothing and accessories they sell, you might be surprised to know that stores like Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, and even Macy’s, are not just for the affluent. High-end department stores can be surprisingly affordable if you know how to shop them.

Bargain Hunter Heaven

High-end department stores often have great deals for bargain hunters. Extremely fashion-conscious individuals don’t want to be seen wearing last year’s fashions, so department stores tend to have incredible clearance deals at the end of the season. For fashion staples like sweaters, cardigans, and dress pants, it is often difficult to tell the difference between this year’s items and last year’s items and the clearance rack can offer savings of up to 90 percent off.

Clearance racks at high-end department stores like Macy’s need to make room for new merchandise and often have unbelievable deals on clothing for the entire family. Children’s staples like coats can be found in January for as much as 75% off. Macy’s often offers coupons, usually available in local newspapers, for as much as 15% off items already on sale!

Plan Ahead

The trick to taking advantage of department store sales is to plan ahead. If you have an important function coming up and need an outfit immediately, you are likely to spend a lot at a department store. This experience with paying a high price is what confuses people, and they fail to realize that department stores have clearance racks with extremely affordable items. You can find good deals on many items including sweaters, pants, purses, shoes, and jewelry. At the end of the summer, you can stock up on basics for the following year. You will most likely be able to buy five times the quantity of clothing or even more with your usual clothing budget.

If you’ve been avoiding high-end department stores because you were intimidated by high prices, reconsider shopping at these stores. The next time you are at the mall stop by the high-end department stores and check out their clearance racks.
