Is it Better to Buy a Photo Printer or Go to the Store?

Are Photo Printers Worth the Cost?

I used to think that a photo printer just wasn't worth the investment. After all, by the time you buy the printer, the special paper, and the ink you can get your photos printed professionally for less, right? Well, a recent family get together changed my thinking when it comes to photo printer investments. Let me tell you why.

Now That's Impressive

This past weekend I was at a family get together and my cousin was taking snapshots (he is, after all, the snapshot king). After he took a family photo of everyone together I asked him if he'd send me a copy. Low and behold, I didn't have to wait. He disappeared for a few minutes and came out with a beautiful 8 x 10 photo for me.

How did he do it? With a photo printer.

Changing My Tune

Prior to my cousin printing out the family photo on his photo printer I had thought that photo printers offered sub-par quality. This definitely is not the case. I'm here to tell you that a photo printer can create photos that look just as good as professionally developed prints.

I also changed my mind about the price thing. Yes, you have to pay for paper and ink when you print your own photos with a photo printer, but it saves you time (and time is money) and you can shop for deals (which we're all good at here) so printing your own photos can also make sense financially.

If you take a lot of pictures with a digital camera and you like to keep photos of family and friends tucked safely away, then a photo printer might be right up your alley. Just remember, only buy what's on sale and make sure you check the reviews of any photo printer before you buy.
