Safe Online Shopping

How to Practice Safe Online Shopping

In today’s day and age, a lot of our shopping is done online. The problem is, if we’re not careful, our information can be stolen during the online shopping process, putting us at risk of identity theft and fraudulent use of our credit cards. But does that mean you should avoid online shopping? Of course not. Just follow our advice for safe online shopping and you should do fine.

Know Who You’re Buying From

The best way to keep your information protected is to know who you’re buying from when you’re shopping online. Bigger stores like Amazon.com and Walmart.com are well known and you know they’re not going to take off with your credit card information, while a small, fly-by-night website may do just that.

Keep Your Privacy Protected

Before buying anything from a website, know that merchant’s privacy policy. What information are they collecting about you and how is that information going to be used? Knowing this is an important part of keeping your personal information safe and secure.

Use a Credit Card

A credit card offers you more protection than a debit card in most cases. If you want to practice safe online shopping, using a credit card is a must and never give out your checking account information online. That’s just asking for a nightmare to happen.
