Most phone companies are now offering a service that includes long distance calling in your regular phone service. For one low monthly fee, you can have your local calling, long distance calling and services such as voice mail and caller ID all included. This means that beyond the small additional monthly fee, you don’t have to pay a penny extra for your long distance calls. But they won't necessarily tell you about this option -- so call and ask to see if it saves you money.

I tried IDT last year and for the first 6 months it did save me money. Then the increases started. By the 9th Month I was 5 times what it was to start with, so I went back to my old carrier, bellsouth, signed up for their long distance service at $9.95 per month for long distance service and have been using it ever since with no additional long distance charges. I would never go back to IDT.
