The South Beach Diet vs. The Atkins Diet

How Does the South Beach Diet Compare to the Atkins Diet?

If you’re anything like me, you may be looking for the perfect diet, and with all the new diets being touted in advertisements and in the press, it can be hard to differentiate one diet from another. However, there are substantial differences between two of the most popular diets out there — The South Beach Diet and the Atkins Diet. But how exactly do they differ?

The Atkins Diet

The Atkins Diet is a low-carb diet. This means that you try to eliminate as many carbohydrates from your diet as possible while eating lots of meat and fats. The theory is that if your body doesn’t have any carbohydrates to burn, it’ll start burning fat instead. Does it work? Yes. Is it healthy? There’s a lot of controversy over whether or not the Atkins Diet is the healthiest diet for you.

The South Beach Diet

Unlike the Atkins diet, The South Beach Diet doesn’t eliminate carbs from your diet, but rather has you focusing in on eating the right types of carbs and the right types of fat. This helps regulate your body’s blood sugar and also helps you lose weight.

Now that you know the major difference between the two diets, you can decide which diet is right for you and which one would be easiest for you to follow.
