Three Ways to Save Money on Natural Gas Energy Costs

How to Save Money on Natural Gas Energy Costs

Looking for ways to save money on natural gas energy costs? Look no further. We have three tips that are sure to save you big bucks on your natural gas energy costs.

#1: Let In the Sunshine

If you’re looking to save money on your natural gas energy costs, one of the best ways to do it is to supplement your heat with natural sunlight. If you keep your blinds and drapes closed, natural sunlight can’t get in to help heat your home. By keeping shades and blinds open, you’ll be able to take advantage of the natural light that comes in. Close them again at nighttime when the sun goes down and they’ll help insulate your home.

#2: Keep Your Fireplace Closed

Believe it or not, traditional fireplaces are actually heat wasters. They draw in hot air from the home and send it up the flue. When your fireplace isn’t in use, make sure that you keep the damper shut to avoid heat loss and to reduce natural gas energy costs. If you do use your fireplace, do so sparingly and try to have one installed that has a hotbox and a blower so it can blow hot air back into your home.

#3: Shorten Your Showers

Believe it or not, shortening your showers by just a few minutes can save you hundreds of gallons of hot water per month for a family of four and can save you a pretty penny in natural gas energy costs. Keep your showers short and make sure your other family members do the same.
