Watch Where You Go For Car Repair

Avoiding a Car Repair Nightmare

So you’re in need of car repair. Perhaps it’s just a scheduled maintenance requirement or perhaps there’s something wrong with the way your car is running -- either way, you need to find a qualified car repair professional to take care of your needs. The question is, where do you go to ensure that you won’t be taken for a ride when it comes to car repair bills?

Don’t Always Trust the Dealer for Your Car Repair Needs

Many people I’ve talked to automatically assume that just because they have their car repair done at the car dealer, they’re not being taken for a ride. Don’t let the fact that the car repair facility you are at is a dealer blind you to the fact that this type of car repair facility can be just as dishonest as any other car repair facility you may go to. In fact, we know of a number of cases where people were taken advantage of by a car dealership when it came to car repair.

Ask Friends and Family

The best way to find an honest and reputable car repair facility is to get a recommendation from friends and family. If your friends and family have great things to say about their car repair choice, then chances are you’ll be happy with their service too.

I went to get my tires rotated at one place and the next day my car was shaking on the front end while I was going 45mph. Before we went on our trip to WV, my sister took my car to Gateway and had them take a look at my car. Previously I had called this other place and they asked me if had my tires balanced, and it turns out you have to pay extra for that. It doesn't come with rotation anymore. Gateway told my sister that I needed two front tires because he was surprised that my tires hadn't blown out yet. So before the trip my sister bought me the two front tires. Needless to say, I'm not going back to that other place because they didn't even give me a hint as to what my tire tread looked like.
